Goal Type:

Boston Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

Until recently I've never contemplated running beyond 5K.

5K: 27:02 (my first "PR" ...sad huh!)

10K ... ??

HALF ...??

MARATHON ...???

Short-Term Running Goals:

Las Vegas is canceled ... we are going to run races closer to home. My goal is to fix my form and be consistent.

My wife and I have decided to train for the Las Vegas marathon in December 09.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to qualify for Boston. Maybe try to see how fast I can be?

Personal:

My wife is the "real" runner in the family and has done Boston twice, but many years ago. She wants to get back to training and I just want to eh... start.

Today Barefoot Ted  (barefootted.com) spoke (and spoke, and spoke ...!) at our weekly barefoot running club. Suffice it to say it was interesting, and we picked up some barefooting tips/ideas/theory and got an earful of his stories.

Someone made the mistake of giving him too much "talk juice" (coffee) before starting the meeting.

We probably did a quarter-mile's worth of barefoot running exercises/drills on cement and grass. Nothing crazy, but I had a little tiny bit of soreness in the ball of my right foot which kept me from pushing very hard.

Worked around the house all day doing chores, and was barefoot the whole time. So, spending the day shoeless was a good activity as well, but it isn't necessarily running mileage and I don't know how to tally that.

Got a little more sleep last night so was feeling a little more human. Not much more sleep though. I feel I need to save up some more energy for the long run tomorrow, and for logging more consistent mileage next week.
