Goal Type:

Boston Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

Until recently I've never contemplated running beyond 5K.

5K: 27:02 (my first "PR" ...sad huh!)

10K ... ??

HALF ...??

MARATHON ...???

Short-Term Running Goals:

Las Vegas is canceled ... we are going to run races closer to home. My goal is to fix my form and be consistent.

My wife and I have decided to train for the Las Vegas marathon in December 09.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to qualify for Boston. Maybe try to see how fast I can be?

Personal:

My wife is the "real" runner in the family and has done Boston twice, but many years ago. She wants to get back to training and I just want to eh... start.

Went out for 2.8 miles with my wife, the baby stroller (+baby!) & dog today. It was hot, but we went slow -- probably 11:00 pace... it's  hard to go faster than that with the stroller regardless... we both wore our VFFs. By the time we got 2.8 miles logged, I started to get some hotspots near my toes, and my left ankle was starting to ache -- so I was at my VFF limit. We walked the last quarter mile home, but it was nice.

I put on my Kayanos and went back out for a couple of extra miles. After the VFFs the Asics felt like my feet were encased in some kind of pillow-lined foot cast. Cushiony for sure, but heavy and dulling to the senses, like my feet were injected with novocaine. I actually weighed them later, and my Kayanos are pushing a pound per shoe -- something like 14 oz. each according to my kitchen scale. Not cool! Oh well. I am only using them as "backups" now.

Interestingly my "old adidas" are only 10.6 oz. with the insole removed!
